Telelearning, also called online learning, usually takes place through the use of computers and the internet. It has been applied in a number of areas with varying degrees of success. It is clear that telelearning does not work for everyone in all situations however it does work quite well in certain situations.

In this exercise you will be assigned at random one of the following areas of telelearning:

1. isolated and remote areas for K-12 learning
2. online university degrees
3. education of inmates at prisons-how does that work?
4. encouraging the elderly to get online

Please note you will need a microphone for this assignment. See below for assignment requirements.

You may use:

• the internet
• your textbook
• anything else you can come up with :)

Assignment Requirements:

Create a PowerPoint presentation of approximately five(5) minutes where you answer the following questions:

1. Introduce the specific area of telelearning. What is its purpose?
2. Describe the equipment needed (hardware and software).
3. Describe the main advantages and disadvantages to this area of telelearning.
4. Evaluate under which conditions this form of telelearning works best and works worst.

The PowerPoint presentation should be:

• five minutes or less
• five to eight slides in length
• Contain at least two images
• Consist of short statements and not paragraphs
• Be of a sufficiently large font size that it is readable from the back of the room
• Presentation skills
• Presentation should be interesting and entertaining
• No reading from the slides
• Clearly spoken - not too fast - yes, you need to record your voice so that this can be heard by all who choose to download it. (if you do not know how to record on a power point you should use Atomic Learning. If you have forgotten the password email me.
